Ian offers a wide range of consultancy services and advice, including the following:
Listeria management
This is one of Ian's areas of particular expertise. Carried out on-site over a two day period, Ian will fully evaluate the entire production and cleaning cycle with a special focus on factory working practices and swabbing strategies.
The exact content and emphasis of each investigation is different and unique to each site, so Ian will agree this in discussion with the site management team. The work is carried out with a strong attitude of zero tolerance to listeria in products and the environment.
Factory planning and design
Ian has many years experience of working globally advising factory technical management teams, architects and contractors in establishing the design, layout and specification of new food factories.
Ian can also offer his expertise on smaller projects, such as factory extensions and refurbishments. He has wide experience with all types of food production, but specialises in high care/risk factories producing RTE and RTRH foods.
Allergen management
Ian's work with allergens is offered in two ways:
Practical factory standards assessment to evaluate current risks of allergen cross contamination and to identify where practical improvements can be made.
Training in allergen awareness, management and retailer standards.
Ian's allergen management consultancy is always carefully tailored to the individual needs of the site.
Pest issues
With many years of experience in assisting food manufacturers with the rapid and efficient elimination of pest issues (including rodents, stored product insects and cockroaches), Ian will work to identify the root cause of the issue, evaluate the extent of the problem and help establish a plan to eliminate it.
Foreign body prevention
With a thorough factory floor investigation, Ian will work with the factory team to eliminate the root cause of any foreign body issues. From evaluating raw material controls, including the processes of production to metal detection/x-ray systems, Ian will assess the working practices in place and identify where changes should be made.
